On the morning of July 16, young professionals and emerging leaders gathered at The MBA for Next Gen Connect, a program focused on building meaningful professional relationships and developing the skills needed for long-term career success.
Presenter Andrea Bierer encouraged attendees to consider how their mindset influences the way others respond to them. A positive attitude helps create opportunities for connection, while a negative mindset can unintentionally push people away.
The discussion also focused on mentorship. Rather than asking someone to become a mentor outright, Andrea suggested starting with casual conversations. Asking about a person’s career path, experiences and lessons learned creates opportunities to build authentic relationships while gaining valuable insight.
Another key takeaway centered on where networking happens. Learning environments often lead to stronger professional connections than traditional networking events because participants already share a common goal of growing their knowledge and advancing their careers.
Following the presentation, attendees participated in a facilitated table discussion before continuing conversations during a networking session. The event created a welcoming space for participants to exchange ideas, expand their professional networks and invest in their future careers.
