ERIE – The Manufacturer & Business Association’s (The MBA) next Executive Speaker Series will focus on “Building Tomorrow’s Workforce” and how education, industry and the community are working together to prepare the next generation of skilled professionals, during its breakfast briefing at 8 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, at the Association’s Conference Center, 2171 West 38th Street. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. All media are invited to attend.

“This is very important topic for our members, and we are excited to learn more about the cooperative education opportunities that are preparing students for high-demand careers right here in Erie County,” said MBA President and Chief Executive Officer Lori Joint.

Speakers include Natalyn Gibbs, Ed.D., chief executive officer and superintendent of Erie’s Public Schools, as well as a United Way panel including: Mike Jaruszewicz, president of United Way of Erie County; Jason Burgert, director of Career and Technical Education at Erie’s Public Schools; Riley Warren, vice president of The Warren Company; and, Patrick Goodrich, president of Seaway Manufacturing Corp.

The discussion will highlight Erie High School’s Career and Technical Education Program (CTE) and the partnerships creating meaningful pathways for students, including the longstanding collaboration between Erie High, The Warren Company, and Seaway Manufacturing Corporation. The program also will explore the role of United Way Community Schools and how they address non-academic barriers to ensure CTE students have the support, resources, and opportunities both in the classroom and workplace.
