Manufacturer & Business Association Joins National Coalition to Work with Policymakers

ERIE – The Manufacturer & Business Association (MBA) has joined the recently formed Coalition to Protect and Promote Association Health Plans. The coalition works with federal and state policymakers to strike the right balance between regulating association health plans (AHPs) and providing the appropriate level of flexibility to allow organizations to provide comprehensive AHPs to small employers.
Members of the coalition believe employees of small businesses deserve quality coverage with strong consumer protections. The coalition intends to develop standards and principles that other organizations operating an AHP should follow. It also will fight against fraudulent actors to ensure the AHP market evolves into a viable, successful marketplace.

Manufacturer & Business Association Awarded Manufacturing Day Proclamation

ERIE – On Tuesday, December 11, the Manufacturer & Business Association (MBA) was presented a proclamation by the Pennsylvania General Assembly designating October 6, 2017, as “Manufacturing Day” in Pennsylvania. Manufacturing Day is part of a nationwide effort to promote manufacturing to middle and high school students in the northwestern Pennsylvania region.

Expert Panel to Discuss Energy Updates for 2019

ERIE – The Manufacturer & Business Association (MBA) will host a distinguished panel of energy experts to discuss energy updates for 2019, during the Association’s monthly Eggs ‘n’ Issues briefing starting at 8 a.m. Thursday, January 10, at MBA Conference Center, 2171 West 38th Street and Pittsburgh Avenue. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. All media are invited to attend.

Panelists include Ken Lawton, general energy consultant at National Fuel, Marybeth Smialek, regional external affairs director at First Energy, and Geoffrey Bristow, regional energy program manager at the Department of Environmental Protection. Discussion topics include challenges affecting the energy industry, possible rate changes, and timely information on rebates, pricing and efficiency programs that are available to businesses in 2019.
